PhD Program in Arabic for Non-Native Speakers

Program Objectives

This program aims to achieve the following:

1- To provide students with a high level of knowledge and expertise in Arabic language and literature, suitable for a doctoral degree.

2- To develop students' four Arabic language skills (speaking, listening, writing, and reading).

3- To equip students with translation techniques that will enable them to work as translators in the job market and contribute to the translation of scientific and intellectual works from other languages ​​and vice versa.

4- To provide students with a high level of knowledge of Arab and Islamic culture.

5- To develop students' self-learning skills in the field of Arabic language.

6- To train students in scientific research in Arabic language and literature.

Target Audience:

Holders of a Master's degree in Arabic for Non-Native Speakers.

Admission Requirements:

A Master's degree in Arabic for Non-Native Speakers.

Learning Outcomes:

Upon completion of this program, the student will be able to:

1- Be proficient in speaking, writing, and reading Arabic at a high level suitable for a PhD.

2- Conduct scholarly research in the field of Arabic language.

3- Teach Arabic to non-native speakers.

4- Translate texts and spoken language from Arabic into their native language and vice versa.

5- Proofread written texts.

6- Demonstrate knowledge of Arab and Islamic culture.

7- Acquire further knowledge of Arabic language through self-study.

Admission Requirements:

1- Students holding a Master's degree in Arabic for Non-Native Speakers are eligible to apply to this program.

2- Meet any other requirements stipulated by the university.

Study Plan:

1- The program consists of four semesters, each lasting ten weeks.

2- The total number of credit hours for the program is 63.

3- The third and fourth semesters are dedicated to preparing the supplementary research paper.

Program Certificate

Upon completion of the program, passing the final exam, and successfully defending the supplementary research, the student is awarded a PhD in Arabic for Non-Native Speakers. Their specific specialization will depend on their research topic.
