Master's Program in Arabic for Non-Native Speakers

Program Objectives

This program aims to achieve the following:

1- To provide students with a high level of knowledge and skills in Arabic language and literature, suitable for a Master's degree.

2- To develop students' four Arabic language skills: speaking, listening, writing, and reading.

3- To equip students with translation techniques and strategies for teaching Arabic to non-native speakers.

4- To provide students with a high level of knowledge about Arab and Islamic culture.

5- To develop students' self-learning skills in the field of Arabic.

Target Audience:

Holders of a Higher Diploma in Arabic for Non-Native Speakers.

Admission Requirements:

1- Holding a Higher Diploma in Arabic for Non-Native Speakers.

2- Meeting any other requirements stipulated by the university.

Learning Outcomes:

Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:

1- Be proficient in speaking, writing, and reading Arabic at a high level suitable for a Master's degree.

  1. Continues graduate studies in Arabic and enrolls in a doctoral program in Arabic.
  2. Teaches Arabic to non-native speakers.
  3. Translates texts and spoken language from Arabic into their native language and vice versa.
  4. Proofreads and edits written Arabic texts.
  5. Promotes knowledge of Arab and Islamic culture.
  6. Acquires further knowledge of Arabic through self-study.

Study Plan:

  1. The program consists of three semesters, each lasting ten weeks.
  2. The total credit hours for the program are 45.
  3. The third semester is dedicated to writing a research paper.

Teaching Methods and Resources:

Lectures, seminars, discussion groups, oral and written exercises, reading and discussing selected lessons from classical Arabic linguistic, grammatical, and literary texts, in addition to writing research papers and scholarly articles.

Program Certificate:

After completing the program and passing the final exam, the student is awarded a Master's degree certificate in Arabic for Non-Native Speakers, with his specific specialization determined according to his research topic.
